Billboard For Edinburgh

6 December 2014 - 10 January 2015

Billboard for Edinburgh Gallery I & II (closed: 21 December 2014 - 4 January 2015) Over the past six and a half years, Ingleby Gallery’s public art project Billboard for Edinburgh has invited 26 artists to make a large-scale work for Edinburgh’s city centre. The Billboard for Edinburgh project was initiated in 2008, when the Gallery moved to its new premises on Calton Road and transformed a defunct billboard on the end wall of the building. Since then, every three months a new billboard installation has been posted. The list of contributors now includes 10 Turner Prize nominees and winners and artists with world renowned reputations alongside emerging talents.

Leading Scottish artists who have taken part include Martin Boyce, Charles Avery and Peter Doig. This exhibition sees five full-size billboards from the project recreated in the Gallery’s first floor exhibition space, allowing visitors to see these giant posters up close. Alongside the billboards, all 26 original prints from the project to date will also be displayed.
