Ingleby’s presentation for Art Basel Hong Kong 2024 is a booth in two halves: simultaneously looking back to the history of the gallery, and forward to the future. Sixteen years ago, in 2008, we celebrated what was then our 10th birthday, by participating in the inaugural ART HK. We were one of just a handful of galleries from Europe and over the next few years, as the fair grew into Art Basel HK we brought work to Hong Kong by many artists (such as Sean Scully and Callum Innes) whose work had not, at that stage, been seen in China, but which is now well known in this part of the world. This part of the gallery’s 26 year history is celebrated at this year’s Art Basel HK by a grouping of major paintings by significant exponents of abstraction - Scully and Innes of course, as well as James Hugonin and Winston Roeth. The second half of this year's booth points to the gallery’s present relationship with a group of essentially figurative painters in Europe and America, including new paintings by Hayley Barker, Andrew Cranston, Aubrey Levinthal and Caroline Walker.
As part of the Kabinett programme, Ingleby will be presenting work by Garry Fabian Miller.

KABINETT | GARRY FABIAN MILLER
For KABINETT at Art Basel Hong Kong we are excited to present a group of seminal photographs by the British photographer Garry Fabian Miller. These unique vintage prints, dating from 1976, belong to his first ever body of work and were recently uncovered in his Dartmoor studio.
There are ten of them in total, each hand-printed by the artist. Five of the images were never subsequently editioned and so we believe them to be entirely unique. As far as we know, and as far as Garry can recall, none of these original prints from 1976 have ever been offered for sale. The 10 small vintage prints are joined in the Kabinett by two large format Lamda prints, made in an edition of three from the original transparencies, also recently rediscovered.
