Caroline Walker |  Kirkcaldy Galleries

Congratulations to Kirkcaldy Art Gallery & Museum on their refurbishment and reopening, and their recent acquisition of Caroline Walker's Helping Granny (2025).

The museum holds an important collection of late 19th and early 20th century Scottish painting, in particular the work of William McTaggart and the Scottish Colourists. These paintings were a formative influence for Caroline Walker as she was growing up, and she has painted Helping Granny for them as a nod to McTaggart’s painting of the same name in the gallery’s collection.

With huge thanks to the donor who made this possible.

Helping Granny (2025) is only display as part of Kirkcaldy Galleries new exhibition, A Century of Kirkcaldy Galleries, open until 25 January 2026.
