This Summer, Cample Line will present a solo exhibition of works by Lotte Gertz.

 

The show, Layers of Silt, brings together a new body of work that extends Gertz's long-standing exploration of painting and printmaking, including soft-ground etchings and lithographs that she has produced at Edinburgh Printmakers as part of her 2024-25 RSA Residency for Scotland.

 

The exhibition’s title Layers of Silt reflects something of the accumulative process and gradual sedimentation of uses and reuses in Gertz's work that can build over months and sometimes over years. A sense of this approach is evident in Gertz’s notes towards the exhibition: ‘Thinking of items, thoughts, works, materials, composted, reused, recycled, a care of the materials, thoughts of sustainability, composting rather than disposing of, an alchemy of time might bring materials back into the cycle of finished work.’
