Cauchi uses outmoded, almost obsolete techniques, to make photographic images with a strange presence and beauty. In engaging with photography’s earliest concerns and materials, invented at a time of pioneering discovery, and experimenting with technical innovations and startlingly contemporary imagery, he revitalises traditional ways of seeing and making for the present day.
