A Klimt-ish nude. A body from a book. Nobody I know or knew. First and foremost a shape that occupies the painting, intuitively this way and that, a winding bendy shape. It was first made as a poster for a screening of Nicholas Roeg’s Bad Timing but it didn’t get used...(to me a film poster must be portrait format even though films are landscape format). Pattern which takes me less to fin-de-siecle Vienna but more to the grubby swirls of the 1970s/80s bedsit London. Rising damp.
Reds, browns, pinks. The skin made by bleaching the red of the book. Mop of red hair.
