Future Library | Author Announcement

Laurie Anderson has been announced as the 13th author to contribute to Future Library, and will create a new work to be entrusted to the project in Spring 2027.

Anderson is a writer, director, composer, visual artist, musician and vocalist, and was chosen by the Future Library Trust for her singular ability to speak across time, creating work that is profoundly human, radically imaginative and alive to futures we cannot yet foresee.

Future Library is an artwork conceived in 2014 by Katie Paterson. Every year for a hundred years, Future Library selects an author to contribute a written piece to be stored in Deichman Bjørvika public library in Oslo, where it will remain unread until 2114. At the project's conception, 1000 trees were planted in Nordmarka, a forest outside Oslo, which will supply the paper that the special anthology will be printed on in a century's time.

Defined as a "living, breathing, organic artwork" by Paterson, Future Library continues to grow through the voices of its authors.
