Cornelia Parker
Hot Poker
Cornelia Parker’s edition Hot Poker was created as part of Ingleby Gallery’s Billboard for Edinburgh project.
Like many of Parker’s works, the image is born from an initially destructive process. Parker folds layers of A4 paper, then pierces the paper with a burning hot poker. Once unfolded, a brutal yet strangely beautiful image is revealed.
This edition is typical of the quiet humour that can be found in Parker’s work. Parker has created an elegant and playful limited edition print exploring the traditions of trompe l’oeil using new laser-cutting technology.
