Ceal Floyer
Pakistani-born British artist Ceal Floyer (b.1968) now lives and works in Berlin.
Ceal Floyer’s work challenges us to re-examine the world around us. Her film, installation, text and sound works combine a beautiful simplicity with a distinct clarity of thought. Floyer is interested in word play and dual meanings, in the balance between the literal and the conceptual.
Floyer’s playful and often ‘ultra-minimal’ interventions regularly use mundane, everyday objects such as light bulbs, door signs and rubbish bags to explore the relationship between perception and reality.
Ceal Floyer was the sixth artist to take part in Billboard for Edinburgh, a unique public art project and print publishing project. For more details, please follow the links to our exhibitions and editions webpages.
