David Austen
Love, Cigarettes & Beer
Love, Cigarettes and Beer is a suite of 21 etchings combining text works and found photographic images. These new prints are available individually or as a full set.
David Austen works in a variety of different media – painting, sculpture, print-making and, more recently, film. His work is bittersweet – always beautiful, but sometimes humorous and sometimes dark and melancholy.
Austen’s new suite of etchings consists of 17 text-based works and 4 photographic portraits. Individually, the text and photographic fragments within Love, Cigarettes & Beer suggest different characters or scenes from a film. Different arrangements of single prints can create different moods, but when all are displayed together they form an intriuging, ambiguous narrative with an old-fashioned, “film noir” feel.
